Fans of the delicious, cheesy goodness in Ocean City known as Manco & Manco Pizza will be thrilled to hear they are in the process of completing a brand-new superstore. About a year ago, the Manco & Manco team started demolition on the property which previously was the Strand Movie Theater and Rita’s Italian Ice, on 9th Street and the Boardwalk.

The site will have an eat-in dining room section, a walk-in service area, and a gift shop. The kitchen in the back of the property has motion sensored lights, a temperature controlled room just for the cheese, and a massive refrigerator and freezer. The entire site will have 5 gigantic ovens; two will be in the front for walk-in service, one will be used for the dining room service, and another two will be in the back for deliveries. There will also be a larger menu than the other locations and credit cards will be accepted at this location. The property will be spacious, allowing customers to easily navigate through the enormous crowds that Manco & Manco is known for.

While planning this new location, the team took into consideration the old bathroom situation at one of the other Manco & Manco locations. Customers would have to stand in a stretched line against the wall of the restaurant, creating cluster and confusion. Now, the new property has a very spacious women’s room and men’s room, filled with plenty of stalls which will eliminate the mass of people standing in line for the bathroom.

Architectural detail for the Manco & Manco Superstore was also accounted for. When the Strand opened back in 1938, it was well known for its Art Deco look. To keep with the vintage theme of the “electric tiara” marquee on the front, circular elements will be assimilated in the interior. The famous marquee will now read in bright lights, Manco & Manco.

Taking a historic building like the Strand and kicking it up a notch will revive the iconic structure and help it to continue being celebrated in Ocean City for many years to come. This will be an entirely new attraction for boardwalk visitors.

Manco & Manco’s other two pizzerias on the boardwalk, at 8th Street and 12th Street, will still continue to operate. The entire project is expected to be finished by the end of June 2017. Get ready to enjoy an Ocean City tradition – fresh, hot, crispy pizza – at the Manco & Manco Superstore!
