Spring is right around the corner, bringing with it the ever-fluctuating weather patterns. The good news is that that there are plenty of great events coming up around town to keep you busy before summer even makes an appearance. Now, let’s take a look at some of what’s to come!
Girl’s Weekend
During the first weekend in April (1st & 2nd), join in the fun on Asbury Avenue between 6th & 14th Streets. There will be shopping discounts, dining specials, yoga classes, and more offered to those who attend! It’s a perfect opportunity for a girl’s getaway down the shore with friends or family that you will not want to miss.
OC Comic Convention
Dress up as your favorite superhero or villain, or spend the afternoon checking out some of your favorite comic books and paraphernalia. Plus, Billy Dee Williams from Star Wars will be making an appearance! This falls on the same weekend as Girl’s Weekend, April 1st and 2nd, but takes place at the Ocean City Music Pier. It will begin at 10am on Saturday and go until 5pm. On Sunday is will also begin at 10am, but go until 4pm. You can also join as a vendor, hosting your own table for $45.
32nd Annual Doo Dah Parade/ Mr. Mature America Pageant
On April 8th, this annual parade focused on humor and laughter, will hype up the city for a season of special events. It will begin at 12pm and stretches from 6th Street to 12th Street on Asbury Avenue where it then proceeds along the Boardwalk to the Music Pier. The procession features marching bands, floats, a brigade of more than 500 basset hounds, and this year’s grand marshal Regis Philbin. Following the parade at the Music Pier is the traditional “Pie-asco,” where everyone is invited to pie their family and friends with shaving-cream pies.
Later that evening, catch Regis Philbin again as he emcees the Mr. Mature America Pageant where men 55 years of age and older compete in talent, poise and interview categories. This event, which is the first of its kind in the US, takes place at the Music Pier at 7pm. Tickets range from $25-$35 and go on sale this month.
Easter Events
During the weekends of April 8th and 9th, as well as 15th and 16th, Ocean City is hosting an array of events such as breakfast with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, and even an Easter sunrise service on the 16th. Bring the family down for some quality time together in America’s Greatest Family Resort and enjoy a holiday by the beach.
Spring Block Party
Another favorite tradition of Ocean City is their block parties. Their spring block party will be held on Saturday, May 6th from 9am to 5pm between 5th and 14th Street along Asbury Avenue. There will be plenty to do for those of all ages, with over 350 crafters, food vendors, music and more! We are hopeful for a sunny day as the city packs its streets with visitors from all around.
