Anyone else feel like summer’s gone by in the blink of an eye? I know I do, but it’s not too late to get in some beach days! Whether you’ve got a week or a weekend to spare, there’s plenty to do in Ocean City, NJ after Labor Day.
Hitting the beach and the boardwalk is easier than ever once the season starts to wind down. Finally, a vacation without beach umbrella sword fights over parking spots, AND no more beach tags? Sign me up! With the crowds gone, there’s plenty of space to surf, polish your sick sandcastle skills, and relax on a towel without interruption. The boardwalk is equally spacious, meaning you won’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn for a morning bike ride. Heck, after Labor Day you can bike on the boardwalk whenever you want!
Tired of the beach? Can’t relate, but we’ve got you covered anyway. Corson’s Inlet, although technically part of the beach, is a great place to explore if you love nature. Perfect for hiking, fishing, or boating, this is a south-end island treasure. If you’re feeling sporty, check out some of Ocean City’s municipal sports facilities. All across the island you can find baseball, basketball, soccer, and tennis courts to use year-round, free of charge! Looking to try something new? Check out the shuffle board courts at 6th and the boardwalk.
If the weather’s not so great, rainy days are the perfect chance to take advantage of some local indoor favorites like the Ocean City Community Center. The Community Center is home to some of the most frequented places in town like the Aquatic & Fitness Center and the Free Public Library, but also the Arts Center and Historic Museum. The Historic Museum is a great place to uncover new information about Ocean City and learn more about our little town. Go upstairs to the Arts Center to check out their current gallery which changes monthly, and find out if there are any open classes during your stay!
While all of these activities should keep you plenty busy, there are countless events going on in Ocean City year round! Some September highlights include the OC Airport Festival (September 15th), Parachute Pyrotechnic Show (September 15th), the Boardwalk Aerobatic Airshow (September 16th), and the Corvette Show (September 23rd).
